Storing pointed cabbage: How to do it right
Pointed cabbage wilts quickly and is then no longer crisp. In addition, the vegetables lose more vitamins with each day of storage. How to properly store pointed cabbage:
- First, remove the withered leaves of the pointed cabbage and then wrap the head in a damp kitchen towel.
- Store the cabbage in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator for a maximum of one week.
- Make sure the cabbage is still closed when storing. If this is already open, the vegetables are no longer suitable for longer storage.
- If you have a dark and cool pantry, the pointed cabbage can also be stored there after removing damaged leaves. Put it on the shelf or hang it in a net.
- Be careful not to store the cabbage next to apples or bananas. The fruit gives off a ripening gas, so your cabbage will wilt faster.
- As an alternative, you can freeze the pointed cabbage like other types of cabbage. In this way, the vegetables can be kept for months and the vitamins are retained.
