Tidying up the Kitchen: How to Create Order

Your kitchen can be tidied up so that there is enough space for baking and cooking. In addition, everything is well organized. Because when you have the most important utensils to hand and the cupboards and drawers are well sorted, preparing meals and desserts is twice as much fun.

This is how you can easily tidy up your kitchen

A lot accumulates in a kitchen over the years. This quickly leads to overcrowded, confusing cupboards and drawers. What is needed is not easily found again. We help you to keep an overview in the long run.

  • The first step to a tidy kitchen is thorough mucking out. Because many things are rarely used or not used at all. Some utensils are duplicated in most kitchens.
  • It is best to empty the cupboards one by one. Only bring back what you have used in the past year. If you repeat this process once a year, unnecessary items will not even begin to accumulate.
  • When putting things away, sort all the items so that each part has its fixed place. This will make it easier for you to clean up later. You don’t have to think twice about what to store where.
  • Keep the storage areas as clear as possible. Only food processors that you use frequently should be placed on the shelf. Devices that you use less often are better kept in the closet. This allows you to keep an overview of the worktop and create space for cooking preparations.
  • Clean up the kitchen immediately after each use. This keeps the time expenditure within limits. The chaos doesn’t even have the chance to gain the upper hand.

Little helpers make things easier

Simple organizers are quick to make yourself or can be made from upcycled materials. And also for a better overview and more storage space is quickly provided. We give you some tips on how to sort your kitchen utensils.

  • Drawers are clearer and easier to keep in order if they have an organizational system. You can either buy these in stores or make them yourself. Cardboard boxes cut to size or cleaned fruit bowls help with sorting.
  • Muesli, pasta, rice, and other groceries are sold in boxes or bags, which quickly leads to clutter in the pantry. Instead, store food in labeled storage jars, swing-top jars, or screw-top jars.
  • Disused pickle jars, jam jars, or other food jars in the desired size are also suitable for this. Another advantage is that no pests such as food moths can settle in opened packs.
  • Always store storage jars and pots together with the corresponding lid. Especially with plastic cans, it makes sense to put them in the cupboard with the lid closed. In this way, you avoid a long search for the right counterpart.
  • Expand your storage space for a better overview. Especially the walls of the kitchen are often unused. The ideal place to attach a rod, for example, to which the spatula, scissors, and wooden spoon can then be hung.
