a nice starter for many occasions

Make deep cross-shaped incisions in the figs and press them apart slightly. Do not cut them all the way through. Arrange the figs evenly on the plate (or in another creative way). Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes and arrange them evenly around the figs, leaving some space for the ham. Freshly grind the pink peppercorns and black pepper over the tomatoes and mozzarella. Roll the ham into small rolls and place them wherever there is still some space. Spread the balsamic vinegar (with fig flavor) on the mozzarella and a slightly smaller amount on the tomatoes. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and dissolve the spoonful of honey in it. Season to taste – it should be neither too sweet nor too sour. Carefully spoon the dressing into the center of the sliced figs.
