Ukrainian Style Dumplings with Meat Filling – Warenyky

Ingredients
 

  • 500 g Flour
  • 300 ml Kefir
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt
  • 1 packet Baking powder
  • 400 g Mixed minced meat
  • 1 Soup greens
  • Pepper
  • Sour cream
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 tbsp Butter

Instructions
 

  • Cut the soup greens into fine cubes. Heat vegetable fat in a saucepan. Fry the minced meat and vegetables. Salt, then add water and stew with the lid closed for approx. 1 hour.
  • Mix the kefir with an egg, 1/2 teaspoon salt and baking powder in a bowl. Then gradually add flour and make a dough. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough thinly and cut out circles with the help of a glass. Spread the meat filling on the dough circles and glue into crescents. Warenyky taste best when they are steamed. The preparation time is reduced to just 6 minutes. Cut the onion into rings and sauté in butter. Serve Warenyky with the onions and sour cream.
