Venison goulash

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 50 g bacon, streaky
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 800 g venison goulash
  • 500 ml red wine
  • 400 ml broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 6 juniper berries
  • 250 g mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp cranberries (jar)

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 25 minutes

Dice the bacon and onions. Fry in hot oil. Add the goulash and continue to cook. Add the wine, broth, bay leaves, and juniper berries. Simmer for 90 minutes over low heat. Clean and slice the mushrooms. Add them to the goulash along with the cranberries about 20 minutes before the end of the cooking time and continue to cook. Season the goulash with salt and pepper, and remove the bay leaves and juniper berries. Approx. 700 kcal per serving.
