Washing gel is in almost every bathroom. But for which skin types is this facial cleanser really suitable and how is it used correctly? We explain everything you need to know. So that you can soon shine with a clear complexion.
Washing gel is suitable for these skin types
Washing gel uses surfactants to remove dirt, excess sebum and make-up residues from the skin down to the pores, thus helping to reduce the risk of blackheads and pimples.
In contrast to cleaners in milk or cream form, the product traditionally does not contain any moisturizing active ingredients. These so-called lipids could clog the pores of oily or combination skin and thus provoke further inflammation.
For these reasons, cleansing gel is ideal for cleansing these types of skin that are prone to impurities. The classic acne washing gels against pimples often contain anti-inflammatory active ingredients such as witch hazel, willow bark extract or salicylic acid in addition to washing substances. In fact, this type of washing gel dries out the skin more than cleaning milk, for example. For this reason, the products often have moisture added to them in the form of vitamin E or aloe vera.
Modern washing gel for men and women can also be designed for sensitive, mature or dry skin. Such products contain moisturizing substances. Mild washing gel for these types is enriched with nourishing lipids such as jojoba and coconut oil or glycerin.
Depending on the composition, every skin type benefits from washing gel today. In the trade you will find the right product for every complexion. So you don’t have to make your own wash gel tailored to your face.
How to use washing gel optimally
Use face wash morning and evening to thoroughly cleanse your skin. Apply the product to the still damp skin of the face, neck, and décolleté, massage in until it foams – and then rinse off with lukewarm water.
Then use a facial tonic or toner to restore the skin’s normal pH value. This allows your subsequent facial care – such as creams or serums – to penetrate the skin optimally.
