Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

according to an old family recipe

Remove the stalk from the cabbage, quarter it, and cut it into fairly thin strips. Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Wash, peel, core, and cut the apple into small pieces. Heat the butter or oil in a saucepan and sauté the diced onion and garlic and the sliced apple until translucent. Add the washed and drained white cabbage and immediately pour in the vinegar and vegetable stock. Add the sugar and all the spices and sauté for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cabbage should still have some bite. Season to taste with salt and vinegar, if necessary, and thicken with a little cornstarch! We love this vegetable side dish with pork ribs and fried potatoes!
