Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g bread(s), stale
  • 300 ml milk or water, lukewarm
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 150 g low-fat quark or cream cheese
  • Mustard, medium hot, or horseradish
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • Fat, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Recycling leftovers

Cut the bread or roll into cubes and soak in lukewarm milk or water. Let stand for 30 minutes, until softened. Finely dice an onion and sauté in butter. Add the egg, low-fat quark, and spices, along with mustard or horseradish, and mix well. Season to taste. Form into 8 meatballs (patties) and fry in hot oil. Serve with crisp salad and herb dip.
