  • 12 slice(s) bacon, thickly sliced

  • 60 ml maple syrup
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

sweet rolls with bacon

First, grill or fry the bacon slices until crispy and then break them into small pieces. Mix the melted butter with the maple syrup, then combine the sugar and cinnamon in a cup and set aside. Prepare the piggy bread in an ovenproof casserole dish. Spread half of the butter and syrup mixture on the bottom of the casserole dish and sprinkle with half of the cinnamon and sugar. Spread half of the chopped bacon evenly on top. Open the package of rolls and divide the dough into the required number of pieces, usually six. Place the rolls in the casserole dish and press down lightly. Distribute the remaining ingredients on the rolls. The piggy bread is then grilled indirectly in a grill with a lid at 180°C for about 25-30 minutes. Alternatively, it can be prepared in a preheated oven using top and bottom heat. The piggy bread is ready when you can stick a wooden skewer into the dough and nothing sticks to it.
