Sauerkraut stew with sausage and beans

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • some oil for frying
  • 400 g poultry sausage with garlic
  • 1 bag of sauerkraut
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 juniper berries
  • 250 ml broth
  • 1 small jar white beans
  • 2 clove(s) garlic, squeezed
  • 200 g sour cream
  • salt and pepper if needed

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

quick to make and delicious

Dice the onions and sauté in hot oil. Dice the sausage, add it, and fry vigorously. Add the sauerkraut with its juice, spices, and broth, and simmer for 15 minutes. Add the beans and crushed garlic and heat through. Stir in the sour cream. If you like, you can season with salt and pepper. It tastes even better the next day. Tip: You can serve it with mashed potatoes. We often eat it “on its own,” though, so it might only be enough for three servings.
