Basic recipe for vanilla ice cream

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 300 ml milk
  • 50 ml cream
  • 1 stalk(s) vanilla pod(s)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 30 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 hours; Total time approx. 5 hours 20 minutes

Pour the milk and cream into a saucepan. Scrape out the vanilla pod and add both the seeds and the pod to the pan. Bring to a boil, then remove the pod. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until thickened, then stir in the hot milk. Let the cream cool, then transfer to a suitable container and freeze.
