Vanilla ice cream without an ice cream maker

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 100 ml milk, cold
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar or a vanilla pod or vanilla flavoring
  • 340 g condensed milk, sweetened, e.g. 1 can Milchmädchen
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 500 ml whipped cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 30 minutes

Basic recipe

Combine the milk, vanilla extract, condensed milk, and salt in a bowl. Whisk the cream until stiff peaks form and gently fold into the milk mixture. Place the ice cream mixture in a shallow metal bowl in the freezer. Stir every hour until the ice cream is firm. This will take at least four hours. Note: If you don’t eat the ice cream all at once, it will keep in a sealed plastic container in the freezer for about a week.
