Hot dog on a skewer

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 sausages
  • 2 rolls (hot dog rolls)
  • 4 gherkins
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • e.g. ketchup
  • e.g. mustard
  • e.g. salad (coleslaw)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Fry the sausages as usual, turning them once. Toast the hot dog buns according to the package instructions. Peel the onion, halve it, and cut it into approximately 2 x 2 cm pieces. Cut the cucumbers into 4 slices each. Cut the toasted hot dog buns into 8 slices each. When the sausages are done, cut each one into 6 roughly equal-sized pieces. Use 2 wooden skewers or shish kebab skewers for each sausage. Now put everything together. First, a slice of bun, then a slice of sausage, a cucumber, a sausage, an onion, a cucumber, a sausage, and finally another slice of bun. You can decide the order yourself. Place the skewers on a plate and spread with ketchup and mustard as desired. If you like, you can serve coleslaw with it; it tastes really delicious with it. Tip: I didn’t pierce the bun from the cut side, but from the top down, this way it stays in place better and doesn’t slip off.
