Smoked Pork Roast on Sauerkraut

The perfect smoked pork roast on sauerkraut recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

For the pork roast:

  • 1 kg Kasseler
  • 0,5 tsp Pepper
  • 3 tbsp Mustard
  • 30 ml Oil

For the sauerkraut:

  • Oil
  • 2 Pc. Onions
  • 2 tsp Cumin
  • 300 g Sauerkraut
  • 250 ml Beef broth

To serve:

  • Cooked potatoes

For the pork roast:

  1. Cut off the outside of the mildly smoked Kasseler. Pepper the smoked pork roast and brush with mustard on all sides. Fry on all sides in a pan with oil.

For the sauerkraut:

  1. Cut the onions into rings and let them brown lightly in the frying oil. Add cumin and sauerkraut and sauté briefly.
  2. Deglaze with the beef stock and insert the roast.
  3. Let the lid simmer for an hour.

To serve:

  1. Remove the roast from the pan and cut into slices. Arrange on the sauerkraut. Potatoes go well with it, cooked and tossed in the pan.
