Hunting sausage sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g sausage (hunting sausage)
  • 2 medium-sized onions, diced
  • some salt
  • some sweet paprika powder
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 allspice seeds
  • 70 g tomato paste
  • possibly pepper
  • 2 tbsp margarine or butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Brown the sausage and onions and season with salt and paprika. Remove the sausage and onions from the pan and melt the butter in the pan. Stir in the flour, stirring constantly to prevent sticking or clumping. Fry over medium heat until golden brown. Add the sugar. Then return the sausage and onions to the pan and add water until a nice sauce consistency is achieved. Add the bay leaf, allspice berries, and tomato paste. Bring to a boil briefly and then simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes. Season the sauce to taste and add a little more pepper, if desired, then remove the bay leaf. A slightly different pasta sauce that kids will also enjoy!
