Cauliflower and potato casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cauliflower
  • 750 g potatoes
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • ½ liter of milk
  • 100 g cream cheese spread
  • 200 g cooked ham, diced
  • 100 g grated cheese, e.g. Gruyère or mountain cheese
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Clean the cauliflower, divide it into florets, and blanch it in salted water. Peel the potatoes, cut them into thick slices, and boil them in salted water for 10 minutes. Melt the butter, add the flour, and pour in the milk. Season and cook for five minutes. Add the processed cheese in flakes and let it melt. Finally, add the ham to the sauce. Mix the cauliflower with the potatoes and place them in a baking dish. Pour the sauce over the top and sprinkle with cheese. Bake in the oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) or 160°C (fan oven) for about 30 minutes. The cheese should have light brown peaks.
