Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 lamb chops, or mutton, double, approx. 3 cm thick
  • 300 g Parmesan
  • 2 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 g butter
  • 500 ml sour cream
  • salt and pepper
  • breadcrumbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Rub the chops with salt, pepper, and grated onions. Then coat with egg and breadcrumbs. Line a baking dish with pieces of butter, grated Parmesan, and grated onions. Place the chops close together and top with more butter and Parmesan. Drizzle with sour cream and top with more grated Parmesan. Bake in the oven for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours at moderate heat (160-170°C). Mutton chops with a twist – a tribute to the “old man” from the Sachsenwald and to Aunt Anna!
