Baked asparagus

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 12 stalk(s) asparagus, white
  • 4 slices of cooked ham
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 100 g Emmental cheese
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • olive oil
  • lettuce leaves
  • lemon juice
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Cook the cleaned asparagus in boiling salted water with a few drops of lemon juice and a pinch of sugar until al dente (approx. 10 minutes). Preheat the oven to 220°C. Remove the asparagus from the water and drain well. Wrap each 3 asparagus spears with a slice of ham. Lightly oil a baking dish and place the ham and asparagus rolls in it. Top with freshly sliced ​​tomatoes (sliced ​​or diced, whichever you prefer), sprinkle with Emmental cheese and season generously with freshly ground pepper. Bake in the oven on the middle rack for 15 minutes. In the meantime, clean and wash the lettuce and spin dry. Place lettuce leaves on a platter. Remove the dish from the oven and carefully arrange the ham rolls on the lettuce leaves. Serve immediately! Serve with fresh white bread. Also great as a side dish, e.g., with roasted pork fillet.
