Swabian plaited bread with ham and cheese filling

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 375 g flour
  • ½ cube of yeast
  • 190 ml milk
  • 75 g butter
  • 150 g ham, Black Forest or bacon, diced
  • 100 g cheese, grated
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg(s) for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Ideal as a snack for a champagne reception

Put the flour in a bowl and crumble the yeast. Warm the milk and dissolve the butter in it, then add it to the flour and yeast and knead into a dough until it comes away from the edges easily. Let the dough prove until it has doubled in size. Mix all of the ingredients for the filling together. Roll out the dough into a 30 x 40 cm rectangle and spread the filling on top. Roll up the dough, cut the roll in half and tie the two pieces together. Brush with egg and let it prove again for about 10 minutes. Bake in an oven preheated to 170°C (fan oven) for 45 minutes.
