Fried Brussels Sprouts
The perfect fried brussels sprouts recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 300 g Brussels sprouts
- 1 tablespoon Goose Lard **
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 tablespoon Ham cubes
- 2 tablespoon Water
- 1st preparation: clean the Brussels sprouts, that is: cut away the lower hard stalk about 1/2 cm and then remove the outer dark leaves. Halve the cleaned florets and cut the halves again into three to four slices, depending on the size. That’s it.
- Preparation 2: heat the goose lard ** in a pan, season with a pinch of salt and stir-fry the vegetables in it until they get a bit of color and the delicious roasted substances develop, which goes very quickly. Now sprinkle the diced ham on top and continue to sizzle a little, turning occasionally.
- Add two tablespoons of water, put a lid on and finish cooking the vegetables over a very mild heat for 5 to 7 minutes, do not open the lid again, shake the pan at most once.
- I served the fried Brussels sprouts with Swedish mince dumplings with a spicy herb risotto; next time with potatoes with an onion steak baked with cheese … Bon appetit!
- ** Goose fat doesn’t have to be (I still had a portion in the fridge), and that went very well. The Brussels sprouts can also be prepared with butter or a good oil … only marginally.
