Meatballs with za'atar

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp sumac
  • ½ tsp marjoram
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

First, prepare the za’atar spice mix. To do this, combine the sumac with marjoram, oregano, thyme, sesame seeds, and salt. Mix the ground beef with the eggs and breadcrumbs. Depending on the size of the eggs, add a little more breadcrumbs if necessary. Add the spice mix and season with salt and pepper. Since the spice mix already contains salt, be careful with it. Form meatballs and fry them in fat in a pan.
