Orange-Ginger Balsam

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 liter orange juice, freshly squeezed or direct juice
  • 1 liter balsamic vinegar, white
  • 300 g brown sugar
  • 30 g fresh ginger
  • 2 pinches of salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

A fruity vinegar

Combine orange juice, vinegar, salt, and sugar in a saucepan. Finely slice the ginger and add to the liquid. Bring everything to a boil, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Then simmer for about 50 minutes, i.e., allow to simmer gently with the lid open. Pour the hot liquid through a fine sieve to remove any coarse particles. Immediately pour into hot, rinsed bottles, seal, and turn the bottles upside down for a few minutes. Makes about 1.4 liters of balsamic vinegar. With a little herb salt, pepper, and olive oil, this vinegar makes a great salad dressing.
