Turnips like my grandma used to make
Peel the turnip, potatoes, and carrots and cut into roughly equal-sized cubes. Peel the onions and chop them into small pieces, then fry them in a pan with a little oil and the diced ham. A short while later, add the allspice and fry. Add the diced turnips to the pan and deglaze with the water. Cook for 15 minutes. Skim off any floating allspice berries, add the stock, and then add the potatoes and carrots to the pan. Simmer everything for 30-45 minutes until soft. Finally, I mash everything.
