Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes, 425 ml
  • ½ onion(s)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • Salt and pepper, white, from the mill
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Sugo, the versatile tomato sauce

Peel the onion and garlic, dice both finely, and sauté in the hot butter. Be careful not to let the garlic brown and become bitter. Add the tomatoes and their juices and mash them slightly. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar. Strain if desired. Perfect with pasta, rice, and as a pizza topping.
