Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 chicken, approx. 1.5 kg
  • Salt and pepper, from the mill
  • Paprika powder, hot
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp herbs de Provence
  • 2 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

You will also need an empty beer bottle. Wash the chicken and pat dry. Season inside and out with salt, pepper, and paprika. Fill the beer bottle with 325 ml of water, thyme, Provençal herbs, 1 teaspoon of finely ground pepper, and garlic. Place the chicken vertically on the bottle and roast in an oven preheated to 200°C for 30-40 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 120°C and continue roasting the chicken for about 30 minutes. Serve with boiled potatoes or baguette and a crisp salad. Place the bottle-fed chicken in a shallow casserole dish or on a baking sheet filled with 1-2 glasses of water.
