Burger patties with smoky whiskey
Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Sauté both together with the oregano and thyme in a small pan over medium heat for a few minutes until the onions are translucent. Let it cool and then mix well with your hands in a large bowl with the ground beef, whiskey, egg, parsley and a little salt and pepper. Form the mixture into four equal-sized balls and roll each one firmly in your hands so that the patties don’t fall apart. Now press them into four patties of equal thickness using a burger press or by hand. I always use baking paper between the patties when I stack them on top of each other. This makes them easier to place on the grill or in a pan later. Sear on both sides and then let them cook over lower heat. This works both in a pan and on the grill. Once the patties are ready, you can assemble your burger however you like.
