Grandma’s recipe

Finely chop the onion and mushrooms and fry in a pan with hot oil. Finely dice the carrot and gherkin and add. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar, and deglaze with a water-vinegar mixture. Let everything simmer for about 15 minutes. Cook the potatoes separately. Then chop them and add them to the mushrooms. Bring everything back to a boil and season to taste. Finally, thicken the liquid with a gravy cake. Leftover potatoes from the previous day can also be used.
