Matjes on apple slices

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 190 g double cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp horseradish from the jar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 apples
  • some lemon juice
  • 4 herring fillets

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Mix the cheese with the horseradish and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Peel the apples and core them. Cut two thick slices from the center of each apple. Drizzle with a little lemon juice. Roll up the herring fillets and secure with toothpicks. Place them on the apple slices. Pipe a rosette of cheese cream onto each roll.
