Schnitzel gratin with mushrooms

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 6 schnitzels (600 g)
  • 200 g cheese, grated
  • 80 g bacon, diced
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), diced
  • 300 g mushrooms, brown
  • 300 ml cream
  • 1 tbsp, heaped curry powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • e.g. olive oil
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • 2 spring onions, cut into rings

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Schnitzel from the oven

Place three schnitzels on the bottom of a suitably sized baking dish, ensuring the dish is completely covered. Spread half of the grated cheese evenly over the top. Now place the remaining schnitzels on top. Heat the olive oil in a pan. Then add the bacon, onions, spring onions, and mushrooms and fry. Add the cream and season with curry powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer everything for 5 minutes and then transfer to the baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top. Bake everything in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for 30 minutes.
