Marion's grilled Bockwurst

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 frankfurters
  • 4 tsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp germ oil (corn germ oil)
  • 2 tbsp beer
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 20 minutes

Cut the sausages approximately 2 cm apart and place them in a baking dish. Mix together a marinade of mustard, corn oil, and beer. Season the marinade with freshly ground pepper and a pinch of sugar. Pour the marinade over the sausages, cover, and refrigerate. Marinate the sausages for three hours or overnight to allow the flavor of the marinade to fully develop. Turn the sausages over occasionally. Remove the sausages from the marinade, wrap each one in a slice of bacon, and secure the ends of the bacon with a toothpick. Grill the sausages on a charcoal grill or in an electric grill on the top rack, grill level 2. Grill the sausages on the first side for approximately 8 minutes, turn them over, and grill the second side for approximately 3 minutes. Brush the sausages with the barbecue marinade from time to time.
