Scotch Chicken
The perfect scotch chicken recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 500 g Chicken breast
- 1 tsp Single malt pepper
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp Liquid honey
- Scotch whiskey
- 1 tbsp Fresh thyme, the plucked leaves
- Salt
- 1 Red Onion
- Oil
- Crush the single malt pepper and the fennel seeds in a mortar. Put the honey in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of scotch. Rub in the garlic cloves. Add the fennel seeds and pepper, as well as the thyme and then salt and stir everything well.
- Cut the chicken breast into fine strips (like for a gyros) and add to the marinade and mix everything very well, cover and put in the refrigerator for about 5 hours.
- Peel the red onion, cut in half and cut into fine strips. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the sliced chicken and onion vigorously while turning. This goes very quickly with the thin chicken strips. Just before serving, add a dash of scotch and flambé and then serve.
- You can eat a lot with it: Country potatoes, French fries, baguette, but you can also use it as a filling for a burger or the like.
