Wonton Candies

The perfect wonton candies recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 packet Frozen wonton pasta sheets without egg
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Clove of garlic
  • 3 Spring onions
  • 100 g Smoked Tofu Almond Sesame
  • 1 cm Chinese cabbage slice
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Tamari soy sauce
  • 500 ml Fat for deep-frying
  1. Finely shred the carrots, garlic, spring onions, Chinese cabbage and tofu in the food processor or in the lightning chopper.
  1. Stir everything in a little oil and brown. Stir in tomato paste and tamari. Let the filling cool down.
  1. Brush one wonton leaf with water and put a teaspoon of the filling in the middle. Roll up and pinch the ends together to form a candy shape. (Of course, other shapes are also possible, we also folded a few triangles.)
  1. Heat the cooking oil in a tall saucepan (test with a wooden stick: if many bubbles rise, it is perfectly hot). Fry the wonton in portions – no more than 5 – and drain on paper towels.
  1. We made a main course with purple mashed potatoes and stir-fried vegetables. But the sweets are also delicious as a party snack or simply classic with soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce for dipping.
