Side Dish: Apple Red Cabbage

The perfect side dish: apple red cabbage recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 handful Onions
  • 1 handful Oil
  • 2 Glasses Red cabbage
  • 1 size Apple
  • 1 size Rice syrup
  • Salt and pepper
  • Sprinkle lemon
  • 2 piece Bay leaves
  • 0,5 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 0,5 liter Apple juice
  1. Brown the cut onion in a little oil, add the glasses with the red cabbage to the onions, rinse the glasses with the apple juice and then bring everything to a simmer.
  2. Peel the apple (or 2 small ones), grate roughly, add the spices, stir everything together, put the lid on and then everything should simmer gently for 45 – 60 minutes.
  3. This time I made it WITHOUT bacon because I froze it in, otherwise I like to add a good portion of bacon.
  4. Let the red cabbage steep for one night, to do this it can stay overnight on the balcony and then freeze in freezer bags and in portions.
