Do Lemons Last Longer in the Fridge?

Spread the love

The best storage temperatures for lemons or grapefruit are between 10 and 12 °C. Therefore, lemons can be stored very well in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator and also keep longer than at room temperature. At even lower temperatures, the aroma decreases.

Nevertheless, the lemons should be checked regularly for mold growth. They will last 4-8 weeks under these conditions, and even several months with the higher humidity levels found in some compartments of multi-zone refrigerators.

Oranges, on the other hand, have an optimal storage temperature of 0 to 9 °C and tangerines of 1 to 5 °C.
