That’s Why You Can Do Without Protein Powder

Spread the love

If you combine cleverly, you can provide your muscles with the most effective dose of protein – without any protein powder. And saves money too.

If you still want to continue mixing protein shakes from your protein powder, we don’t want to stop you from doing so. Why should we? The shakes don’t have to be inherently bad. Hobby athletes can also easily get the protein they need with normal meals.

It looks a bit different with intensive weight training. There are indications from studies that point to a positive effect of protein powder shakes.

After all, 2, 3 or 4 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight are not harmful to healthy people. The kidneys then have more to do, more urea is produced and the protein is removed from the body again in this way. You can do it – but then it’s a waste of money.

However, people with kidney problems should pay attention to their protein intake, otherwise health problems can occur. In this case, protein powder should only be used in close consultation with a doctor. There are also no long-term studies that have explored the effect of an excess of proteins on the body.

By the way, protein doesn’t play such a big role for endurance athletes anyway, unless you train to the point of absolute exhaustion. Endurance athletes should primarily supply energy in the form of carbohydrates. Strength athletes shouldn’t leave them out completely either, as muscles are broken down if the energy supply is too low. For strength athletes, however, proteins play a greater role, as they repair the micro-tears in the muscles and thus build up the muscle.
