Rice Dehydrated: Which Varieties Are Suitable and What You Should Consider

Spread the love

Because rice is dehydrating, some people swear by rice days or rice cures. These are intended to remove excess water from the body and thus support weight loss. But not every rice variety is suitable for dewatering.

This rice is dehydrated

If you want to use rice to drain your body, not all varieties are suitable. We will tell you which rice detox works with:

  • Wholemeal rice, or unpolished brown rice, wild rice or brown rice, basmati rice or spelled rice are better suited for draining than white rice.
  • In contrast to white rice, brown rice contains silver skins and seedlings. These contain important nutrients.
  • Brown rice is rich in potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium. The potassium is crucial for drainage in the body.

What you should consider when dehydrating rice

If you would like to eat rice to drain your body, a so-called rice cure is suitable. There are a few things to consider:

  • Spring and autumn are considered suitable seasons for a rice cure.
  • With the rice cure, you eat 150 grams (dry weight) of brown rice every day for four to eight days. In addition to rice, there are fruits and cooked or raw vegetables.
  • It is important that you drink plenty of still water or herbal tea during these rice days and avoid coffee, alcohol or black tea.
  • The benefits for the body: The rice cure can have a positive effect on migraines, urinary tract infections, edema, headaches, menstrual pain, high blood pressure and skin problems.
  • However, the rice cure is not for everyone. You should only try this detox if you are healthy and in good physical condition.
  • People who have chronic kidney disease, are underweight or are often cold should not do a rice cure, nor should pregnant or breastfeeding women or children.
  • According to traditional Chinese medicine, rice not only removes moisture but also heat. If you feel an inner chill during the rice cure or if you have increasingly cold hands and feet, this is a sign to interrupt the cure and eat normally.
