Milk: Unhealthy for the body and the environment?

In addition to the positive properties of milk, the white drink also has its downsides. The production of milk is of particular concern for the environment.

  • With increased milk consumption, the risk of developing prostate cancer increases.
  • A study by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston found that milk consumption increased the risk of fractures.
  • If you cannot tolerate lactose, i.e. milk sugar, you should not consume any dairy products. This will avoid diarrhea and flatulence.
  • Milk can prevent the absorption of iron in our body: this is reflected in paleness and tiredness.
  • The hormones in milk can lead to more pimples or make existing acne worse.
  • Most greenhouse gases are caused by CO2 emissions in agriculture. Keeping cows and their milk production is therefore partly responsible for climate change.
  • Alternatives to animal milk are oat milk or soy milk. These types of milk are far more compatible with the environment.
