The ideal asparagus peeler removes the peel from the asparagus spears quickly, easily, and economically. In addition, it should fit well in the hand and deliver a good result even with little pressure. Make sure that the blades are as sharp as possible and that the handle is ergonomically shaped, non-slip, and not too short. Sharp blades are also important so that the asparagus skin does not get caught in it and clog it.
The thinner and more evenly the asparagus peeler removes the skin, the better. It is optimal if even crooked asparagus spears can be easily peeled. With a good asparagus peeler, you can also grate hard cheese such as Parmesan or peel other types of vegetables. Incidentally, the price says nothing about the quality: many inexpensive variants under ten euros deliver better results than some expensive asparagus peelers for more than 20 euros.
