Eggs are healthy and you are allowed to eat that many
There is much more than the 1-egg rule allows. This states that you should only eat one egg per week in order not to increase your cholesterol level.
- An egg contains an average of about nine grams of protein, i.e. proteins. The special thing about it: the body can utilize almost 100 percent of the protein. It, therefore, has a biological value of 100. For comparison: beans have a value of 73.
- Eggs also contain the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Vitamin A is particularly valuable. It ensures that the eye remains elastic and the iris can adapt well to the brightness.
- As water-soluble vitamins, the egg contains vitamin B1, which is required for carbohydrate metabolism, and vitamin B2, which is important for protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, and cell respiration.
- Also included are the minerals calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, and potassium.
- But the egg also contains cholesterol. It is only found in the yolk. It is said to cause heart disease. For this reason, the 1-egg rule applied for a long time, but it has now been consistently refuted.
- Eggs contain important nutrients and vitamins and are therefore healthy. Because of the cholesterol, eggs should still be eaten in moderation. Healthy people usually do not have an elevated cholesterol level even if they eat more than three eggs a week.
