Facelift promises a rejuvenated, dynamic appearance. But when does an intervention makes sense, which methods are there and how long does the result last? In the following, we present everything you need to know about facelifts in compact form!
When is a facelift useful?
A balanced diet and comprehensive facial care including smart helpers such as anti-wrinkle serums are a blessing for your skin – but cannot permanently stop the natural aging process.

Facelifts are a popular method to combat wrinkles and sagging skin areas that develop over time and to restore the original facial proportions. During the so-called interventions, the complexion is mechanically tightened and thus optically rejuvenated.
Stress is known to have a negative effect on the complexion. Find tips for relaxation here.
The most famous facelift methods
Modern facelift methods are numerous and varied and fall into two distinct areas. On the one hand: the partial or holistic surgical method under general anesthesia. On the other hand: minimally invasive procedures, some of which do not require a scalpel at all and are performed under local anesthesia. While the former are suitable for skin that is already very slack, the latter are intended for the first subtle signs of aging.
The surgical facelift method
In a classic surgical facelift, sagging skin and underlying connective tissue, including muscles and fat, are removed. The deep-seated tissue is then stretched and tightened manually and reinserted. This is followed by the smoothing of the upper layer of skin and the removal of excess skin. Finally, the skin is sutured without tension.
Minimally invasive facelift methods
The term micro-needling refers to injections of anti-aging ingredients such as hyaluronic acid into the facial skin. This ingredient is also found in high-quality restorative creams and promotes the formation of collagen. The fabric appears plumper and more even. With thread lifting, extremely fine threads are pulled under the skin via the smallest of incisions, anchored in the slack tissue, and then tightened.
How long does the facelift effect last?
Whichever method of face lifting you choose: even the most successful facelift will not make your skin look young forever. Even the results of the most modern processes only last to a limited extent and lose their effect after ten to 14 years at the latest.
