Warming up Mushrooms: What You Should Consider

Spread the love

For a long time, it was said that mushrooms should not be reheated. However, this budgetary rule no longer seems to apply. We have summarized for you what you should consider when heating up mushrooms.

Mushrooms can be reheated

After preparation, put leftovers in the fridge and then heat them up again – that’s allowed. But only under certain conditions.

  • Only mushrooms that have been heated to an appropriately high temperature during preparation may be reheated afterward.
  • The prepared mushrooms must have been stored in the refrigerator. This means that the mushrooms had to be stored at a refrigerator temperature of four to eleven degrees Celsius. This means: do not store at room temperature.
  • Mushrooms are very susceptible to bacteria because they contain a lot of protein and water. Hazardous substances that are toxic to the human organism can be produced when the substances are broken down.

Do not leave at room temperature

Never leave mushroom dishes on the table after they have cooled.

  • After cooling, immediately put mushrooms in the refrigerator.
  • Leaving mushroom dishes on the warm stovetop for a longer period of time can also start the degradation processes.
  • When reheating mushrooms, the temperature should be at least 70 degrees Celsius. In this way, bacteria and germs that may have arisen can be killed.
