Peel The Avocado – It’s That Easy

Halve and stone the avocado: This is how you succeed

To cut an avocado in half, you need a large knife.

  1. Place the avocado on a plate and use the knife to score the long side of the avocado.
  2. Cut all around the avocado to split it in half. In the middle of the avocado, you will find the large pit around which you guide the knife.
  3. Remove the knife and twist the halves apart.
  4. Place the half containing the core on the plate and chop the core with the knife. Be especially careful with this.
  5. Depending on how ripe the avocado is, the pit may be easier or more difficult to remove. The most effective way is to slightly twist the knife that has been chopped into the pit to loosen the pit from the pulp.

Peeling an avocado: this is how it’s done

There are several ways to peel the avocado. Depending on how you prepare the fruit afterward, you can go down different paths.

  • Quarter the avocado: If you want to serve the avocado in quarters, use the knife to halve the halves again and simply peel the skin off the pieces.
  • Peel the entire half: To keep the halves whole, you can use a tablespoon to scoop the fruit out of the shell.
  • Avocado cubes: If you want to cut the avocado into cubes, for example for a salad, sushi, or to prepare guacamole, you can carefully cut a checkerboard pattern into the avocado halves with a knife, which only cuts through the fruit and not the skin. You can then use a tablespoon to separate the fruit from the skin.
  • You have already formed the cubes and can add them directly to your salad, for example.
