Make Ayran yourself: The basic recipe
You only need three ingredients for the refreshing yoghurt drink: 400g natural yoghurt (3.5% fat), 600ml cold water and 1/2 tsp salt.
- Put the yoghurt and the water in a sufficiently large container.
- Now beat the two ingredients with a whisk or blender to a creamy drink.
- Finally, taste everything with a little salt.
Variations of the yoghurt drink
Ayran can be refined with various ingredients. Try different variations.
- Use lemon juice, cucumber, fresh mint or fresh basil, tabasco or pepper. This gives the drink a special kick of freshness on hot days.
- Ayran also tastes sweet. For this variation, omit the salt and use honey, rice syrup, or another sweetener of your choice instead.
- Extra tip: Puree the fruit and mix it into the drink.
