Making ginger ale yourself is not difficult. You get a healthy and refreshing drink without chemical additives.

Make ginger ale yourself – instructions

For the drink, you need 700ml of tap water, 3 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger, the grated zest and juice of 2 organic limes, 200g of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of dry yeast. You also need a bottle with at least 750ml capacity.

  1. Grate the ginger and lime zest.
  2. Put both in the bottle.
  3. Squeeze out the lime juice and pour this into the container as well.
  4. Add the dry yeast and the sugar. It is best to use a funnel for filling.
  5. Add 450ml of water, close the bottle and shake the contents vigorously.
  6. Fill up with the remaining water and put the sealed jar in a spot that gets a lot of sun for a day.
  7. After that, keep your homemade ginger ale in the fridge. It stays there for 7 days.
  8. Before drinking, pour the drink through a fine sieve to filter out the zest and ginger.
  9. Tip: Put a sip of cold sparkling mineral water in your glass if you prefer the sparkling version.
