Make ginger ale yourself – instructions
For the drink, you need 700ml of tap water, 3 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger, the grated zest and juice of 2 organic limes, 200g of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of dry yeast. You also need a bottle with at least 750ml capacity.
- Grate the ginger and lime zest.
- Put both in the bottle.
- Squeeze out the lime juice and pour this into the container as well.
- Add the dry yeast and the sugar. It is best to use a funnel for filling.
- Add 450ml of water, close the bottle and shake the contents vigorously.
- Fill up with the remaining water and put the sealed jar in a spot that gets a lot of sun for a day.
- After that, keep your homemade ginger ale in the fridge. It stays there for 7 days.
- Before drinking, pour the drink through a fine sieve to filter out the zest and ginger.
- Tip: Put a sip of cold sparkling mineral water in your glass if you prefer the sparkling version.
