Braised cabbage with bratwurst

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 sausages, coarse uncooked
  • 500 g potatoes
  • 750 g white cabbage
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 50 g ham, diced
  • ½ tsp marjoram, dried
  • salt and pepper
  • n. B. Caraway

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Hearty dishes from the pan, inexpensive

Peel, wash, and roughly dice the potatoes. Trim, wash, and chop the cabbage. Heat the oil in an ovenproof pan or roasting tin, brown the ham, and then remove. Brown the sausages on both sides and remove. Brown the potatoes and cabbage vigorously in the frying fat. Season with marjoram, salt, pepper, and caraway seeds, if desired. Deglaze with 1/8 liter of water, stir, and place the sausages on top. Cover the pan or casserole dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 1 hour. After 45 minutes, sprinkle the ham cubes over the top and finish cooking uncovered for the last 15 minutes.
