Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g beef fillet(s) or pork fillet, cut into strips
  • 2 onions, cut into coarse strips
  • 4 large carrots
  • 4 large potatoes
  • 100 g celery
  • 500 g mushrooms, fresh, quartered
  • 250 ml cream or milk
  • 1 pack of sauce powder (gravy powder)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • salt and pepper
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Add the meat and onions to a pan with a little hot oil and sear briskly. Cut the carrots and potatoes into moderately thick slices and cook until tender. Thinly slice the celery as well. Blend 50 ml of milk or cream with the cornstarch and sauce mix until smooth. Top up with the remaining liquid and stir to combine. Place everything in a saucepan with the mushrooms, bring to a boil, and simmer gently, covered, for 45 minutes. Season the stew with salt and pepper and simmer uncovered for another 15 minutes.
