Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 500 g lentils
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 small onions
  • 2 small potatoes
  • Sunflower oil
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • salt and pepper
  • lemon juice
  • chili powder
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Peel and finely dice the onions. Heat oil in a large pot and fry the onions until translucent. Peel and dice the potatoes and carrots, and add to the onions. Add tomato paste, stir well, and fry briefly. Rinse the lentils briefly in hot water, drain, and add to the pot. Pour in 1.5 liters of hot water, stir, and simmer the soup over medium heat for about 20 minutes, until the lentils and potatoes are tender. Season to taste with salt, pepper, lemon juice, and chili powder. Turn off the heat and purée the soup with a hand blender.
