Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 200 g puff pastry (frozen)
- Flour for the work surface
- Butter for the mold
- 4 eggs
- 150 ml milk (whole milk)
- 300 g cheese, strong (hard cheese e.g. Västerbotten or old Gouda), grated
- ½ tsp salt
- Pepper, black from the mill
- 12 slice(s) ham, lightly smoked (thin slices)
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour
Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Roll out the puff pastry thinly on a floured surface. Grease a 20 cm tart pan with butter and line it with the pastry. A perforated bottom pan is best, as the pastry will crisp up nicely. Trim off any excess pastry. Whisk the eggs and milk in a bowl. Stir in the cheese, salt, and plenty of freshly ground black pepper. Spread the mixture over the pastry. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Serve the warm tart with the ham. A crisp green salad goes very well with it.
