Baked sheep's cheese

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pieces of feta cheese
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp herbs de Provence
  • 1 pinch(s) of cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch(s) paprika powder, hot
  • ½ tsp caraway seeds, whole

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

A quick dish that is ideal as a starter

Place two pieces of feta cheese per person in the center of a piece of aluminum foil approximately 30 cm long. Season the feta cheese generously with the specified spices. Peel the garlic cloves and mince them with a garlic press. Distribute the garlic evenly among all four feta cheeses, then drizzle with the olive oil and wrap the feta cheese tightly in the aluminum foil so that no olive oil can leak out. Preheat the oven and bake the feta cheese in the foil at 180 degrees Celsius on the middle rack for 10 minutes. Then serve the foil with the baked feta cheese on large plates. The cheese is eaten directly from the foil. It’s best to fold the foil up slightly at the edges to prevent the oil from running out. This goes wonderfully with a fresh baguette (for dipping in the olive oil) and a dry red wine.
